Biography
Chundou Her (any/all pronouns) is a stateless scholar and artist with current teaching and advising responsibilities to UW–Madison and Monona Grove High School. At the center of Chundou’s work is Love and Joy. Their previous research includes predominantly work in schools and community organizations where they highlighted and uplifted the ways Asian American girls and gays keep communities and social fabrics afloat throughout the triumphs and perils of society. Chundou is committed to supporting students and communities alike in building critical literacy skills that question power dynamics that have historically marginalized many. At UW in particular, Chundou hopes to help students speak back to power through learning and fellowship. They don’t like the idea of sticking to just one medium, mode, genre, or type of representation. Chundou’s work spans from traditional academia to podcasts to compositions for youth musicians. Chundou even co-write/directed/produced an absurdist puppet show about the middle school student of color experience.
