Celebrate Native November with a film screening of Standing Above the Clouds and a live virtual conversation with Pua Case. The film follows Native Hawaiian mother-daughter activists and their stand to protect their sacred mountain, Mauna Kea, from the building of the world’s largest telescope. Themes of Indigenous sovereignty, resistance, and resilience help to foster deeper conversations around re-matriation, Indigeneity, and the importance of elevating and listening to diverse voices.
