Lynet Uttal is a community based researcher and a practicing clinical social worker.  Her research and teaching focuses on immigrants and refugees and understanding biculturalism, cultural conflict, and adaptation, with a focus on Latinx immigrant families, Tibetan, Hmong, Bhutanese and Muslim refugees. She is author of Making Care Work: Employed Mothers in the New Childcare Market, “Growing Up Hapa in Ann Arbor,”  and “Taiwanese Immigrant Mothers’ Childcare Preferences: Socialization for Bicultural Competency.”
